Truman Grad Wins Coveted Fellowship

A Harry S. Truman High School alum wins a coveted fellowship.

Yuzzy “Gaina” DuBuisson won the Thomas R. Pickering Fellowship in undergraduate foreign affairs.  

The Woodrow Wilson National Fellowship Foundation awarded DuBuisson the fellowship, which is funded by the U.S. State Department.

It will provide DuBuisson funding to complete her undergraduate studies, as well as a graduate degree, as she prepares to enter the United States Foreign Service.

DuBuisson graduated from Truman in 2008. According to a news release, she is a founding member of two organizations empowering economically disadvantaged women in Pennsylvania, and youth in Haiti.

DuBuisson has traveled extensively, backpacking throughout Israel as a U.S. youth ambassador, living and volunteering in Haiti, studying at the University of Havana in Cuba and visiting family in Canada. She also enjoys learning new languages.

DuBuisson attends American University in Washington, D.C. She is one of 20 students from colleges throughout the country named to the Pickering class of 2011.
