Uptown String Band Ready To Strut In Philly Mummers Parade

BUCKS COUNTY, PA —Turn on your television at some point on Wednesday morning and you will see all of the colors and showmanship of an annual tradition dating back to 1937.

The Uptown String Band will once again be strutting their stuff on New Year's Day in Philadelphia with a 2025 performance called "Boardwalk FantaSea."

Set in Coney Island, the Uptown String Band said the performance will be filled with nostalgia, summer fun, and classic Americana vibes.

Calling themselves "The Pride of Bucks County," the Langhorne-based annual participant in the Philadelphia Mummers Parade is a fully volunteer organization with nearly 200 members and a history dating back to 1937.

The Uptown String Band performs at functions in Bucks County and surrounding areas throughout the year. They've appeared on the boardwalk in Ocean City, N.J., and even at weddings. They recently performed at the Newtown Holiday Parade.

The 2025 Live Casino & Hotel Philadelphia Mummers Parade —the 124th Mummers Parade overall —begins at 9 am and is set to go until around 5 p.m.

The Mummers will start at 17th and Market then head toward Philadelphia City Hall before dancing down South Broad Street to Washington Avenue.

The String Bands will be performing at City Hall, Union League (Broad & Sansom), and Broad Street & Carpenter Street.

Uptown is scheduled 9th among the 14 string bands that will perform in the parade.

You can also watch your favorite String Band in their staging areas before they hit the Judges Stand from 17th and Market to 20th and Market as well as John F Kennedy Blvd on New Year's Day morning, the Uptown String Band said.

This year’s Live! Casino & Hotel Philadelphia Mummers Parade will be broadcast on MeTV in the Philadelphia Area. MeTV is channel 502 for Verizon or 802 for Comcast. It will also stream on WFMZ.com and the WFMZ App.
