Weather Cooperates For Crossing Reenactment

The river was calm enough for the event and several thousand people watched the recreation of a key piece of American history.

The 58th Annual Reenactment of Washington Crossing the Delaware went off without a hitch at Washington Crossing State Park in Washington Crossing on Christmas Day.

Despite the clouds, it was a beautiful event. The river cooperated and several thousand people watched the recreation of a key piece of American history.

George Washington and the Continental Army crossed the Delaware River on Dec. 25, 1776, taking the Hessians by surprise. This decision, along with a decisive victory at the Battle of Trenton the next day, was a turning point in the American Revolution.
