Wegmans Will Help Fill Lower Bucks Co. School Food Pantry
Wegmans, which will open its second Bucks supermarket on Wednesday, is teaming up with Harry S. Truman High School in Bristol Township.

LOWER BUCKS COUNTY, PA —With the arrival of its second Bucks County supermarket on Wednesday, Wegmans is continuing to build its reputation as a good community neighbor.
The company —which is opening its second store in Lower Makefield Township —is teaming up with Bristol Township students to help fight food insecurity.
Wegmans Yardley will stock the Harry S. Truman High School food pantry to help fill the gaps and fulfill the pantry’s needs.

Wegmans Yardley Service Manager Dave Hemmer and some associates visited Truman students recently to discuss the endeavor.
“As a family company focused on food, we’re committed to helping families and communities struggling with hunger,” Hemmer said. “Through our partnership with the Truman Food Pantry, we can work together to nourish our communities and help make our neighborhoods stronger.”

Open to all Truman students, the pantry contains non-perishable food items such as canned vegetables and fruits, canned meats and tuna, soup and pasta, snacks, cereal, and more.
“The pantry is vital to Truman because students can get what they need discreetly,” said Natalie Wood, English and special education teacher, who runs the food pantry.
Students who wish to access the pantry should contact Wood or their guidance counselor.
By the time the new store opens, the Wegman Yardley team will have already contributed more than $32,000 through community donations and sponsorships.
Wegmans Yardley recently presented the Bucks County Opportunity Council with a $10,000 donation to support the agency's mission of reducing poverty and promoting economic self-sufficiency.
In late August, the Yardley team participated in the annual Lower Makefield Township Community Day.
The team also has provided donations to the Makefield Women’s Association, the Kiwanis Club of Washington Crossing-Yardley, and Shady Brook Farm for their Holiday Light Show.
Wegmans is certainly no stranger to Bucks County, having operated a store off Route 611 in Warrington since 2006.
