Children at the William Penn Center Preschool will get to enjoy a new playground as they return to school this year.
State Rep. John T. Galloway (D-140) and William Penn Center Board Member Sam Snipes were among those who attended Thursday morning's ceremony.
"We couldn’t have asked for better timing to open the gates to our new playground," William Penn Center Preschool Assistant Director Laura Zajchowski said. "We treasure the physical grounds of our school. The size of our outdoor play area was already bigger than any other preschool or childcare center I know of in Lower Bucks County, and now it has brand new equipment, play stations, slides and even a shaded covering so the littlest children can enjoy the fresh air but stay protected from the sun."
School officials said funding for the playground was made possible through a generous grant from the Nonprofit Finance Fund as well as private donations and also state funding through the Keystone Stars Program.
"Our goal is to give each child a warm environment that encourages the development of socialization skills, independence, and a positive self-image with a very a hands-on approach to learning, fostering creativity and self-expression," Zajchowski said.
William Penn Center is a private non-profit preschool and childcare center that has been in operation since 1952. It offers full- and part-day programs for children ages two to five years old. It accredited by United Way agency and Keystone Stars.
