Woman In Wheelchair Saved From Falls Township Apartment Fire By Neighbors: Fire Marshal

A woman who uses a wheelchair was rescued from her Falls Township apartment Wednesday night by quick acting neighbors, according to Falls Township fire officials.

Fire Marshal Rich Dippolito said the fire broke out at about 7:38 p.m. at a Lakeview Terrace apartment.

He said the resident was home and is confined to a wheelchair.

Neighbors went to the apartment and banged on the door, where the resident answered and was helped out of the apartment, Dippolito said.

The neighbors broke out a fire extinguisher and doused the fire, which was confined to a bedroom mattress, which left responding crews with only mopping up the scene, Dippolito said.

He went on to say there were no injuries reported in the incident, which began due to careless smoking, and the bedroom sustained fire damage around the area of the mattress.

Crews from Fairless Hills, Levittown, Falls, William Penn, Edgley, and Penndel all responded to the scene, Dippolito said.
