Ex-Bucknell Coach Charged Over Death Of Freshman Player (iheart.com) — Lewisburg residents should know that a former Bucknell University strength coach has been charged with felony aggravated hazing and related offenses after the 2024 death of freshman football player Calvin “CJ” Dickey Jr. Prosecutors say the coach pushed Dickey through an intense workout despite his sickle-cell trait and delayed calling for help. Bucknell faces a separate wrongful-death lawsuit, and a preliminary hearing is set for July 28.

Men's Basketball to Play in Cathedral Classic at The Palestra Nov. 27-28 (bucknellbison.com) — Bucknell fans in Lewisburg can mark their calendars for Nov. 27-28, when the men’s basketball team heads to Philadelphia’s historic Palestra for the Cathedral Classic. The Bison will face La Salle and Penn as part of the arena’s 100th-anniversary celebration, with ticket details still to come.
3. After Student Collapses and Dies, His Coach Is Charged (newser.com) — A former Bucknell University strength coach has been charged in connection with the 2024 death of freshman football player Calvin “CJ” Dickey Jr. after an intense workout in Lewisburg. State investigators say the coach ignored safety guidance and Dickey’s sickle cell trait, while his attorney maintains the training was appropriate and the coach is innocent.
4. Sunbury technical institute looks to expand course offerings (dailyitem.com) — Union County commissioners meeting in Lewisburg heard that the new Susquehanna Valley Technical Institute in Sunbury plans to add construction trades, child development, and electrical maintenance programs by early 2027. Leaders say the school is already enrolling for nursing, wood manufacturing, welding, and RV maintenance, aiming to supply family-sustaining jobs for workers in Union and Snyder counties.
