• Mifflin County community mourns longtime leader in fire service (dailydispatch.com) — Lewistown residents are mourning Robert "Bob" Barlett, the borough council vice president and longtime fire service leader who recently passed away. Barlett served as district fire chief for City Hook and Ladder and previously led the Lewistown Fire Department, earning tributes from local fire companies and ambulance crews for his decades of dedication.
   

• Mifflin County measles cases climb to 106 (lewistownsentinel.com) — Mifflin County's measles outbreak has reached 106 confirmed cases, second only to Lancaster County in Pennsylvania, with four local cases added since Friday and one recent death of an unvaccinated 18-year-old resident. State health officials report ongoing community transmission in Mifflin and nearby counties, urge vaccination, and advise anyone with symptoms in the Lewistown area to call a provider or the state hotline before visiting a clinic.
   

• Earl Weaver Jr. fills vacant supervisor seat (lewistownsentinel.com) — Granville Township has filled one of its vacant supervisor seats, with longtime township employee and volunteer Earl "Pete" Weaver Jr. appointed by the Court of Common Pleas to serve until the next municipal election. Residents interested in the remaining vacancy must have lived in Granville Township for at least a year and submit a letter and résumé to the Helen Street office in Lewistown by Sept. 30.
