The township has been considering what to do with the property at Swamp and Ridge pikes for nearly 14 years.

LIMERICK, PA — A ceremony was held last week to commemorate the recent groundbreaking at a $50.1 million retirement community in Limerick.
Arcadia at Limerick Pointe, located near the intersection of Swamp Pike and Ridge Pike, will feature 160 independent, assisted, and memory care units.
Officials plan on completing construction and opening their doors on the 200,000 square foot project by some point in 2020.

The Limerick Board of Supervisors has been considering what to do with this property since 2005.
"In exploring many different options we felt like Arcadia was the best one, as there is no other offering like this in the area," said Board of Supervisors Member Elaine DeWan. "And because Arcadia is serving the seniors in our community, it is a very welcome one and we can’t wait for it to open."

More than 80 people attended the ceremony on March 21, including Limerick government and business leaders.
The project was designed by architectural firm Kimmel Bogrette. Paul Risk Construction is in charge of building it.
"Working on a project of this magnitude takes an incredible amount of talent and discipline," principal architect Jim Bogrette said. "You can see in the result of this effort an honoring of the community and region in the architecture."
Amenities at the new facility, which is slated to open at some point in 2020, include fire pits, salon and spa, fitness center, bistro and pub, housekeeping, security, transportation, daily activities and social programs, a concierge, and more.
Developers tout it as one of the area's only senior communities that offers monthly rental options.
It will be located at 51 West Arcadia Drive.
