After Narrow Defeat, Ciresi Begins New Campaign For Limerick Area State Rep. Office

Joe Ciresi will challenge Thomas Quigley again in 2018 for the Limerick area's State Representative seat.

LIMERICK, PA -- After suffering a narrow defeat in the election for the state House of Representatives last fall, Limerick-area candidate Joe Ciresi has announced he will run again in 2018.

Republican Thomas Quigley defeated the Democrat Ciresi last fall, 14,868 votes to 14,198, a margin of less than 700 votes. Quigley has a two-year term in office for the seat in the state House's 146th district.

A major point of contention between the two candidates was the state's fair funding formula for schools. Ciresi supported it, while Quigley opposed. Ciresi also had been very vocal about restoring passenger rail service to western Montgomery County.

The 146th comprises Limerick, Lower Pottsgrove, Perkiomen Township, Royersford, Trappe, and several precincts in Pottstown.

Limerick and Royersford lie right along the electoral dividing line between red and blue in last year's election results. Limerick went red for President Trump, while Royersford went blue for Hillary Clinton.

Ciresi will hold a campaign fundraiser and kick-off event on Wednesday, May 31 at the Steel River Playhouse, which is located on 245 E. High Street in Pottstown. The event will include music, food, drink, and conversations, Ciresi said.

Ciresi is the president of the Spring-Ford School Board.
