Ambler Savings Bank Donates $15,000 To Spring-Ford For MakerSpace
Spring-Ford has received a hefty $15,000 donation for a cutting edge and unique "MakerSpace" learning environment.

ROYERSFORD, PA -- Spring-Ford has received a hefty $15,000 donation for a cutting edge and unique "MakerSpace" learning environment.
The donation comes courtesy of Ambler Savings Bank.
Ambler Savings Bank Retail Officer, Erin Cohen, and Limerick Branch Manager, Becky Dice, presented the district with the check for the space, which will include a multimedia room, in the senior high school’s media center, the bank said in a statement.

The learning environment is described by MakerSpace as follows:
"Makerspaces combine manufacturing equipment, community, and education for the purposes of enabling community members to design, prototype and create manufactured works that wouldn’t be possible to create with the resources available to individuals working alone."

The space will include two private instruction rooms and an open maker and breaker space, which will 3D printers, sound mixing equipment, video equipment, and the supporting technology to outfit the MakerSpace, the bank said.
“When I see and hear about all the technology and opportunities students today have, I am very excited and look forward to working with and learning from the next generation of business leaders, said Erin Cohen, Retail Officer for Ambler Savings Bank.“Programs like Spring-Ford’s MakerSpace will shape the way these students look at problems and come up with solutions in the future.”
Spring-Ford High School will hold a grand opening for the MakerSpace during the 2017-18 school year.
Ambler Savings Bank, headquartered in Ambler, has locations in Limerick, Schwenksville and Fairview Village.
