The definition of a great nation

The joys of Independence Day

As I celebrate mine and the nations birthday this weekend, may this 4th of July bring you much happiness! I wanted to share this quote with you, from Erma Bombeck, a talented columnist you may even recall. I think she captured one of the great truths about this great country of ours:

“You have to love a nation that celebrates its independence every July 4, not with a parade of guns, tanks, and soldiers who file by the White House in a show of strength and muscle, but with family picnics where kids throw Frisbees, the potato salad gets iffy, and the flies die from happiness. You may think you have overeaten, but it is patriotism.”

Here is a look at three celebrations of Fourth of July by Royersford, PA that will be great for the whole family.

  • Skippack: If you are looking for fun festivities with small-town Americana charm, head to Skippack. They kick off the holiday with a parade down Route 73 through Skippack Village at 11:00 a.m. After the parade, do not miss the 3:00 p.m. barbecue at Parc Bistro, and stick around to catch their fireworks from Palmer Park at dusk.
  • Phoenixville: Celebrate the holiday with your community at the Phoenixville Independence Day Celebration. Most families begin heading to Friendship Field around 7:00 p.m. with blankets and lawn chairs to grab a spot. The fireworks will go off at 9:00 p.m.
  • Pottstown: Be a part of history by joining Pottstown to celebrate their bicentennial at their two-day celebrations on July 3rd and 4th. From a parade to entertainment and rides in Memorial park to fireworks at night, Pottstown’s festivities will have all of the classic keys to Fourth of July fun.

May you have so much joy this Independence Day.
