Falling Debris Contributes To Nightmarish Traffic On 422 Tuesday

ROYERSFORD, PA — Commuters on 422 are used to dealing with pretty horrific traffic on a normal weekday, but Tuesday took things up a notch.
Several periods of torrential rain brought widespread flash flooding to the region, causing accidents and trapping numerous drivers. First responders across Montgomery and Chester counties responded to water rescues.
Right at the start of rush hour at around 5 p.m. Tuesday, several vehicles were tangled up in a crash in the westbound lanes of 422, between the S. Lewis Road underpass and the Royersford interchange.

An investigation revealed that a truck proceeding down the already treacherous roadway had unknown debris spilling out is back and dumping across the roadway.
Officials said that several vehicles swerved out of the way of the debris, ending up in the grass median of the highway or out on the shoulder. Eyewitnesses told Facebook page 422 sucks the debris was concrete.

For at least half an hour, traffic in both directions was limited to just one lane as the accident was cleared, according to authorities.
One individual suffered minor injuries in the crash and was taken by ambulance to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Royersford Fire Department, Black Rock Volunteer Fire Department, and West End Ambulance of Phoenixville all responded to the scene.
