FORMER POTTSTOWN RESIDENT BRINGS ELITE PROFESSIONAL BASKETBALL SCOUTING PROGRAM HOME

Who says you can never go home again? Former Pottstown resident Howard Brown, who is the founder and chairman of the wildly successful International Ball Players United, LLP (iBall United), will be proving that you can, in fact, always come home again when he debuts the iBall Pro Combine on May 30 and 31 at Pottstown Senior High School.

This innovative two-day event will feature some the nation’s top free agents as they compete in front of NBA, WNBA and FIBA scouts for the consideration of contracts at the U.S. and international professional basketball level.

iBall United is a full service player management, marketing and consulting firm focused on building professional careers. The company decided to create the iBall Pro Combine for athletes as an effective yet highly efficient tool for capturing the attention of NBA, WNBA and FIBA scouts in one controlled setting.

“We decided to organize the iBall Pro Combine as a way for both players and scouts to see what opportunities were out there in the most convenient and time-saving fashion possible,” said Howard Brown, founder and chairman of iBall United. “When we were thinking of where to host the event it was a no brainer—I said it had to be Pottstown.”

Brown, who graduated from Pottstown High School and was named PA State Player of the Year in 1995 went on to play basketball for Villanova and then worked as a professional basketball player for over 13 years, playing for organizations based in 19 different cities and in six different countries. As a professional, he won two Spanish league championships and two league scoring titles and finished his career as a top 10 scorer in the history of Spanish LEB Gold.

He started his company to help other athletes like himself find opportunities to continue their playing careers, whether it’s in the U.S. or overseas. His latest venture, the iBall Pro Combine, will feature everything from action-packed tournament-style games and world-class drills, to intensive speed and athletic tests.

THE iBALL PRO COMBINE

The event is open to both male and female players however they must be officially “invited” to attend after filling out an application online at www.iballunited.net and fulfilling the necessary requirements. Data for all registered players is shared internationally before, during, and after iBall Pro Combine to inform scouts on key metrics associated with professional evaluation. These include:

▪ Reading Plays And Decision-Making.

▪ Levels of Contribution to A Winning Team.

▪ Attitude.

To assist in evaluating the strength, speed, agility, athleticism, and overall sportsmanship of each player, iBall United has enlisted the assistance of Limerick-based MaxOut Strength Studio. Dedicated to providing the most scientifically advanced athletic based training on the market today, MaxOut Strength Studios utilizes the Barwis Methods MaxOut Tower on each piece of training equipment (the counter weight method delivers faster results than typical weight training by maximizing the eccentric or “negative” of a repetition).

THE iBALL PRO COMBINE’S “HEALTHY FAMILIES INITIATIVE”

This exciting two-day event is open to the public and will include the “Healthy Families Initiative”. The Healthy Families Basketball Clinic will take place on Saturday, May 30 at 1 PM and will feature A Fresh Start Fitness, the training and entertainment sensation that is taking the nation by storm!

A Fresh Start Fitness will lead children and parents in a ‘follow the leader’ warm up program followed by families participating in fun and engaging group basketball competitions under the direction of the Trojans Summer Basketball Program.

Basketball drills will be similar to sessions conducted by professional prospects in the iBall Pro Combine. As a special treat, professional prospects from iBall Pro Combine will participate with children throughout the clinic and the event will culminate in a “Kids VS. Grownups” competition! Note: iBall Pro Combine tickets must be purchased in advance but registration for the Clinic is FREE.

THE iBALL PRO COMBINE’S CHARITABLE INITIATIVES

A portion of the ticket sales will be donated to several local charities, including Foundation for Pottstown Education, JT Dorsey Foundation, Live The Dream Foundation, Olivet Boys and Girls Club - Pottstown Ricketts Center, Students Helping Students, The Strive Initiative and Operation Inspiration.
