Hays to Run for 155th State House District Seat
Democratic Councilman Enters State House Race in the 155th

SPRING CITY – Mike D. Hays announced today that he will run for the open seat in the 155th State House District.
Hays, 30, was elected to Spring City Borough Council in 2009 as one of its youngest members ever. Now in his third year in local government, he continues working for Main Street improvements, necessary investments in the borough’s infrastructure, and better communication with taxpayers and neighboring municipalities.
“Under Gov. Corbett and a Republican Legislature, Pennsylvania is leaving many working families and the middle-class behind,” Hays said. “If elected, I will be an independent representative for the people and not any particular industry or interest.”

The newly redrawn 155th includes Spring City, East Pikeland, East Brandywine, West Brandywine, Uwchlan, Upper Uwchlan, West Vincent, and parts of Phoenixville.
Hays supports a renewed commitment to public education in Pennsylvania, a strong extraction tax on natural gas in the Marcellus Shale region, and lowering the number of adults and children without health insurance in the state.

“As the nation continues to recover from the recession, we ought to support those services that help people get back on their feet,” Hays said.
“Now is not the time to pull the rug out from under the feet of struggling families.”
In his community, Councilman Hays is chairman of the Wastewater Committee. He serves on the Spring City Public Library Board, and volunteers time with the Revitalization Committee. With his support and urging, the borough launched its first ever municipal website in 2011 at a very low cost.
Professionally, Hays works as a purchaser for a local health food store. He graduated from Widener University with a degree in business administration.
