Labor Day In Spring-Ford: What's Open, What's Closed

SPRING-FORD, PA — Whether you're picking up burgers for the grill, making one last home improvement run or grabbing coffee before enjoying the unofficial end of summer, Labor Day is one of those holidays when hours can look a little different.

Labor Day falls on Monday, Sept. 7, in 2026. Many stores, pharmacies and restaurants are expected to remain open, while government offices, schools, libraries and other public services will be closed.

Limerick, Royersford And Spring City Municipal Offices And Public Services

Municipal offices across Limerick, Royersford and Spring City will be closed Monday, Sept. 7, in observance of Labor Day. Trash and recycling schedules will vary by municipality:

• Limerick Township: Township offices will be closed for the holiday, according to the municipal calendar. Residential trash and recycling are handled by private haulers rather than the township, so residents should contact their provider to find out whether their collection schedule will change.
• Royersford Borough: Borough offices will also be closed Monday. Royersford partners with Whitetail Disposal (now Casella) for trash and recycling service, and Labor Day will push both collections back by one day, from Tuesday to Wednesday, Sept. 9. • Spring City Borough: Borough offices will be closed for Labor Day, and curbside collection will be delayed by one day to Tuesday, Sept. 8. The Spring City Borough Pool will also be open to members on Labor Day, giving residents one last splash before the unofficial end of summer.

Schools And Libraries

Spring-Ford Area School District schools will be closed for Labor Day. The district's 2026-27 calendar lists Monday, Sept. 7 as a holiday.

Libraries on both sides of the Spring-Ford area will also be closed. Royersford Free Public Library and Spring City Free Library both list closures for Labor Day proper. Both libraries are also regularly closed on Sundays, so residents hoping to stop in over the long weekend should plan accordingly.

Grocery stores are generally among the businesses expected to remain open on Labor Day, although some locations may use reduced hours.
