LGS Unit 1 Returned to Service

Power plant official reports both of the plant's units are now at full power.

The following release was submitted by Dana Melia, Communications Director of the Limerick Generating Station:

POTTSTOWN, Pa. (April 23, 2012) – Unit 1 returned to full power at approximately 2 a.m. EDT yesterday following repairs to an electrical system on the non-nuclear side of the plant.

Limerick Unit 1 was manually taken offline by operators on April 19 when an electrical malfunction caused the plant’s generator cooling pump to shut down. There was no risk to the public and no injuries associated with the event.
