Limerick Generating Station Testing All Sirens Again On Tuesday

After issues with yesterday's test, the nuclear power plant will hold another full siren test on Tuesday.

LIMERICK, PA — After some issues during the test which occurred on Monday, Limerick Generating Station will hold another full siren test on Tuesday afternoon.

According to the Montgomery County Department of Public Safety, Exelon had issues with their sirens in Berks County.

The test Tuesday, to be held at 2 p.m., will include all 165 sirens throughout the area and will last for about three minutes, according to officials. If you're within a 10 to 15 mile radius of the Station, you may hear the sirens.

The full siren test occurs twice a year, in December and June. It's part of a routine safety check, and the high-pitched, wailing sound is no cause for alarm.

If you should hear the sirens outside of normal testing periods, please know that they are not a signal to evacuate, Exelon said. Rather, you should tune in to the Emergency Alert System radio for instructions.
