Limerick Township Achieves 'AAA' Bond Rating
The Limerick Township Board of Supervisors is pleased to announce that Standard & Poor’s Ratings Services raised its bond rating one notch from ‘AA+’ to ‘AAA’. This new rating is the highest available within the financial investment industry and Limerick is now one of only a few municipalities within this region to have obtained this achievement. According to Standard & Poor’s, the new rating is attributed to the Township’s ongoing positive budgetary performance, established management principles, and strong local economy. Another factor noted is Limerick’s historically low tax rate which has consistently remained in the lower third of all 62 municipal taxing agencies within Montgomery County. “Limerick prides itself on our long standing business philosophy which sets forth the goals to improve operational efficiencies, to reduce costs, and to limit the tax burden of the residents” states Limerick Chairman Kenneth Sperring, Jr.
The ‘AAA’ Rating will be another cost savings tool Limerick can utilize to address the increasing demand for services, which are essential to the vitality of the local economy. The Township continues to experience growth from both the residential and commercial sectors which is attributed to the high quality services provided by the Township. “Many people wish to move into Limerick and call this community home because of the Township’s award winning park system, exceptional Police and public safety protection, and the high level roadway services offered by the Public Works Department” states longtime Limerick Board member Thomas Neafcy, Jr.. The Township is currently undertaking several studies to identify the long range capital needs of the community.

The primary benefit of the new ‘AAA’ rating is that the financial investment industry will lower Limerick’s interest rate for any long term borrowing required to support the future capital and service needs of this community. “We wish to ensure that no reduction in services occurs, that taxes remain lower than the County average, and that Limerick continues to enhance services so that the community remains a desirous place to raise a family today, and into the future” states Limerick Board member Kara Shuler.
