Magisterial District Justice Race in Limerick and Royersford

Qualifications for MDJ Range from a State Minimum One Month Course & Exam vs Being an Attorney & Member of the Bar, with Years of Experience

Richard Welsh decided that when Judge Walt Gadzicki finished his 36 years on the Bench, that he was ready for the task of becoming our next Magisterial District Justice. He also felt that someone with extensive law experience would make the best candidate. He has said that "When I was practicing law, I found that it was easier to present a case before a judge that was an attorney just because of their knowledge of the law. It allows for the hearings to go smoother. The experience you get from law school better prepares someone to do the job.”

Originally from Philadelphia, Welsh attended high school at William Penn Charter School and continued his education at American University in Washington, D.C., where he graduated with a bachelor of science degree in finance in 1990. Welsh later obtained his law degree from Dickinson School of Law in Carlisle, Pa and went on to serve as an assistant district attorney in Philadelphia under Lynne Abraham. In 2000 he joined the law firm Hamburg, Rubin, Mullin, Maxwell & Lupin in Blue Bell, practicing real estate and municipal law. He then worked for the law offices of Robert A . Stutman in Fort Washington and left in 2009 to open Barrister’s Bagel Company in Royersford. In addition, he has mentored youngsters as a Local Football and Lacrosse Coach in his spare time.

Unquestionably, Richard Welsh is the BEST Qualified Candidate for the Limerick, Royersford & Upper Providence District !!! The Cases that Come Before a Magisterial District Judge are more than Just Traffic Citations. Landlord Tennant Disputes, Contract Disputes, Criminal Charges which will Determine whether a Defendant will Stand Trial in the Court of Common Pleas, are just a few of the Areas that a Local Judge will have to make a Decision on. In my mind, a College Degree, Law Degree, Member of the Bar, a Former Assistant District Attorney & Law Practice and a Small Business Owner, which Richard has acquired, brings to the Bench a Much More Well Rounded Professional that Suits the Position. It means that a 4 week Course and an Exam only meets the Minimum Qualifications to Occupy the Seat. That's Why Attorney's are Exempt from taking the Course and Exam. Please VOTE on Election Day, next Tuesday Nov 7th, and I Urge You to make your Decision based on Experience and Qualifications, Not on Partisan Politics.
