Montco Homebrewers Illegally Sold Homemade Beer Online: Cops

Three Montgomery County homebrewers have been charged after illegally selling their beer online, authorities said.

AUDUBON, PA — Three Montgomery County homebrewers, including one from Audubon, have been charged after illegally selling their beer online, authorities said.

Willow Grove's Jason Lee Carter, 35, along with David Jonathan Mandlebaum, 32, of Bala Cynwyd, and Austin Daniel Pearson, 23, of Audubon, sold the beer without a license, state police allege.

Mandlebaum was also charged with drug paraphernalia possession.

An investigation began after agents with the Pennsylvania Bureau of Liquor Control Enforcement responded to advertisements on a website called Mybeercollectibles.com.

Agents were able to buy the beer then executed search warrants at their homes where "large quantities" of the brew was seized, according to police.

All three are being charged in a Dauphin County court, police said.

Court filings were not available as of 4:15 p.m. Monday, May 21.

The charge of selling brewed beverages without a license is a misdemeanor.
