New Rofo Police Car Arriving Next Week
A recap of Tuesday's borough council meeting in Royersford.

The Royersford Borough Council met for its first May meeting on Tuesday night and approved the resolution to file paperwork for the new police car that the department has purchased. Borough Manager Mike Leonard reported the vehicle will arrive next week.
The , according to Police Chief Kevin Schurr at the September 2011 budget meeting, had not purchased a new vehicle since 2007. The new car is a 2013 Ford Utility Police Interceptor with a lighting and siren package. The total price for the vehicle is $40,233.81, which would be broken up into a three-year payment plan of roughly $13,411.27 per year. The purchase was made from Co-Star. The board approved this purchase unanimously in October 2011.
Leonard also explained to council that he met with the county commissioners on Thursday to discuss swapping money out of the Main Street Revitalization Fund to the renovations being made on First Avenue. Leonard said the decision should be made by the commissioners within the next couple of weeks.

It was determined that if the money comes out of the revitalization fund, work done on Main Street would be shortened from 5th Avenue to 4th Avenue. Council also discussed the potential for getting money put back into the revitalization fund, which would not hinder the project's current plans.
Leonard concluded his report with the news that the borough's pension company, Rockdale Investment Management, was bought out by Citi National Bank.

Wastewater Committee Chairman Ken Wadsworth reported all items but one were within the allowable limit for the month of April. One item exceeded the allowable limit by 50 percent. That instance is under investigation.
"I would say though down at the sewer plant, everything really looks nice," Wadsworth continued. "The grass is mowed, walks are cleaned. Everything is working now. Nothing was shut down like it had been for several months. Things are in good shape."
Council president Tom Weikel said the planning commission met on Monday night and considered the R5, storm water and outdoor lighting ordinances. The commission approved the lighting and R5 ordinances as is, but suggested the storm water ordinance include comments from the county. Weikel said he will have the minutes from the meeting at the May 29 borough council meeting.
At the last council meeting, members agreed to hold a public hearing for the Civil Service Ordinance on June 12. Council agreed again on Tuesday night to hold similar hearings for the aforementioned ordinances on the same night.
Solicitor Alan Boroff reported the borough is eligible to receive $340 from the state of Pennsylvania from a check issued nine years ago. A motion to have Weikel and Leonard follow through with receiving the check was approved unanimously.
