ROYERSFORD, PA — The Pennsylvania Department of Education recently released its list of 2016 ACT scores for public high schools in the state.
The ACT, a competitor to the SAT, aims to judge student abilities in four categories: English, mathematics, reading, and science.

Spring-Ford had a composite average of 24, placing them well above average. The average ACT score in Pennsylvania is 20.8.

- West Chester Bayard: 25
- West Chester East: 24
- West Chester Rustin: 25
- Phoenixville: 26
Philadelphia's Julia R. Masterman School, perpetually atop rankings, earned the highest average ACT score with 30.

The ACT is scored from of a low of 1 to a top score of 36. The numbers listed above are the average of sectional scores in English, math, reading and science.
