Person Lays Across Train Tracks In Limerick; Rescued By EMS

First responders had to hike a rugged trail to reach the remote stretch of tracks where the individual was laying down.

LIMERICK, PA — Local first responders traversed rugged terrain in rainy weather late last week to rescue an individual who had laid down across a remote stretch of railroad tracks in Limerick Township.

The incident occurred during the afternoon of Friday, Aug. 31.

Crews were first notified of the situation when a railroad employee noticed the person laying down.

First responders used a gate at the Limerick Township Sewer Treatment Plant, off King Road, to access the area, according to the Royersford Fire Department.

However, they weren't there yet. They had to hike another quarter mile of trails and rocky terrain to reach the point of the tracks where the individual was laying.

Fire units approached the area from the Lewis Enivronmental property, and helped the first responders on the scene put the individual into a Stokes basket, which is a type of stretcher specifically designed for use in inclement conditions.

From there, the patient was safely transported to a local hospital for ongoing treatment.

No injuries were reported.

Royersford Fire Department worked with Limerick Fire Company, Limerick Fire Marshals Office, Limerick police, and Royersford police on the scene.
