Randi Carp, Beloved Phoenixville Choir Director, Passes Away
The widely loved choir director and member of the community has passed away. Rest in peace, Dr. Carp.

PHOENIXVILLE, PA - The widely loved choir director at Phoenixville Area High School and well-known member of the community has passed away.
Randi Carp died on Wednesday, January 6, due to cancer.
Friends and acquaintances described her as a “truly beautiful soul” and noted how much she would be missed.

Carp was actively involved in the community, and brought the choir to perform at the Phoenixville Compassionate Friends, a non-profit in the borough.
According to the Pennsylvania Music Educators Association, Carp received her Bachelor’s degree in Music and Education and her Master’s of Music Education at Indiana University. She then went on to complete a Doctor of Musical Arts in Choral Music Education at the University of Southern California

Carp has taught music education at California State University, Fullerton and the University of Southern California and been active in both MENC and the California Music Educator’s Association, most recently acting as the choral representative for the state.
She was also was the Director of Vocal Music at Los Alamitos High School, where she directed 6 choirs. She has been the recipient of numerous education awards at USC and in the public schools including being named the Teacher of the Year for the Los Alamitos Unified School District.
After relocating to the east coast, Carp led the choral program at Phoenixville High School, served on the editorial board at JW Pepper Sheet Music, and was the Show Choir R & S Chair on the PA State and Eastern Regional ACDA Boards.
