Royersford Gets $48K For Main Street Crosswalks
Montgomery County has granted more than $1 million to several traffic and construction projects around the area, including in Royersford.
ROYERSFORD, PA — Royersford has received a $48,000 grant to make improvements on Whites Road, Montgomery County officials announced Friday.
The project is one of six across the county to receive Transportation Program Grants, which are funded by the county's $5 motor vehicle registration fee.
With the grant, Royersford will install a rectangular rapid-flashing beacon and push button light, along with pavement markings for a crosswalk at Main Street and 7th Avenue.

The borough is adding $12,190 to help complete the project.
"This will be a safer crosswalk for pedestrians to cross Main St especially for kids exiting school," the borough said in a statement on social media Friday. "On behalf of Borough Council, we would like to thank our grant writers and Manager Mike Leonard for their efforts to obtain this important grant. This crosswalk will be part of next year's infrastructure improvements along with the repaving of Main St from 5th Ave to Borough line."

“Municipalities use these grants to fund projects that they want to do to improve traffic and pedestrian safety for their residents," Val Arkoosh, Chair of the Montgomery County Board of Commissioners," said in a statement. "By using these grants, the municipalities free up local dollars that can be used for other high priority projects that they have."
Projects in Upper Dublin, Upper Hanover, Lansdale, Springfield, and Whitemarsh also received funding.
All told, around $1 million was disbursed.
