Royersford National Night Out Approved
The August event will be held on 4th and Washington

co-chair J.R. Bach was at the April 24 Royersford Borough Council meeting to request road closures for the annual event, which will be the third year for the borough of Royersford.
"As a church, we are again taking part in the annual National Night Out event, which is held the first Tuesday of August every year," he explained.
National Night Out is a nationwide community awareness day, encouraging citizens to do the right thing when it comes to crime and drugs. Nationally, the event will be in its 29th year.

Locally, this year's event will be August 7 from 4 to 7 p.m. Bach indicated setup would begin at 2:30 p.m. He requested road closures on Washington Street from 3rd to 4th Avenue. Bach said he is also requesting roads be blocked off on 3rd Avenue from Washington Street to the driveway of the apartments.
"We didn’t have any problems in years past that we know of," he said. "It’s been a great success and has gotten bigger and bigger. Last year we had more businesses involved. We hope to get more businesses and community groups involved as well."

Local responders will also be participants at the event, along with their regular duties.
"We are going to work with our neighbors in this effort, as well as Royersford," Bach concluded. "We would like to have the local first responders stationed at the ends of the street, in case they need to get out for an emergency. Royersford Borough will be mentioned in any advertising we will do for this event."
Council approved the request unanimously.
