'Save The Trestle' Banner Cut Down Off Old Royersford Rail Bridge

The sign was put up by developers who are hoping to repair and reopen the bridge to pedestrian traffic. Police are investigating.

ROYERSFORD, PA — Police are investigating after the "Save the Trestle" banner was cut down from the old Royersford railroad bridge crossing the Schuylkill River.

The trestle, which connects Spring City and Royersford, is the target of fundraising and redevelopment efforts. Officials hope to reopen the bridge as a walkway for bikers, runners, walkers, and horses.

Police are investigating the act of vandalism, which is also trespassing, as the bridge is currently closed.

The fundraising is being spearheaded by the Lewis Group, developers responsible for much of the work along the Royersford riverfront.

Police said the area will now be "heavily patrolled" by officers to prevent future acts of vandalism.
