Spring City To Be Sprayed For West Nile Virus
Parts of Spring City will be sprayed to help control the mosquito population and limit West Nile Virus.

SPRING CITY, PA — Parts of Spring City will be sprayed to help control the mosquito population and limit West Nile Virus.
The spraying will take place on Wednesday, Aug. 1 from 8 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. Spraying will take place within the shaded area on the map below.
A rain date for the spraying has been set for Aug. 6.

The spraying will target areas where mosquitoes breed with DeltaGard, a chemical which the Chester County Health Department said has been approved by the EPA. Spray will be dispersed at a rate of .66 ounces per acre.
It is recommended that residents stay indoors for the duration of the spraying and for about 30 minutes after.

The risk of being infected with West Nile from a mosquito is very low, officials said, but residents are still urged to take simple precautions, like using repellent and removing standing water from their property.
West Nile Virus typically causes fever but can lead to neurological illness in extremely rare cases.
