Spring City Man Took Fentanyl Before Crash Injured Victim: Cops
A Spring City man was high on fentanyl and morphine when he swerved head-on into opposing traffic, severely injuring another driver: cops.

SPRING CITY, PA — A Spring City man was high on fentanyl and morphine before a head-on crash that severely injured another driver, police said.
Brian Volz, 41, of Bridge Street in Spring City, was arrested on Sunday after a lengthy investigation and charged with his second DUI, drug charges, and accidents involving serious bodily injuries, according to the North Coventry Police Department.
The incident occurred back on Aug. 8 at around 7:30 p.m. as Volz was driving on S. Hanover Street in North Coventry.

Police said that Volz had morphine, fentanyl, and THC in his blood when he crossed into the oncoming lanes and hit another vehicle head-on.
The driver of that vehicle had to be extracted by a machine, and was transported to a nearby trauma center with severe injuries, police said.

Volz, meanwhile, was taken to Reading Hospital for treatment, where he took the blood test that revealed the drugs in his system, police said.
In addition, officers said that they found bags of heroin and a pre-loaded syringe containing 40 units of heroin in Volz's vehicle.
A preliminary hearing is forthcoming. Volz will appear in District Court 15-3-01.
