Spring-Ford Gets $45K In Grants For School Safety

ROYERSFORD, PA — Great news for the Spring-Ford School District: they have received a major grant from the state to support safety in all their schools.

The Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency announced this week that Spring-Ford would receive $45,000 in safety funding.

The grants will be used to purchase new security technology, support behavioral health training, prepare emergency plans, as well as hire hire school resource officers, psychologists, social workers, and more.

"Today’s grant announcements from the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency will deliver vital resources to all four school districts in the 146th District for greater protection of students, teachers, and support staff," State Rep. Joe Ciresi said in a statement. "I will continue to work with Governor Wolf to see that these awards increase in the future."

The Child Advocacy Center of Montgomery County also received $300,000 for increasing trauma-informed services, while the Family Service of Montgomery County received $298,200 for a youth violence reduction project.

All told, schools around Pennsylvania received $53.7 million.
