Spring-Ford Hosts Epic 'Battle Bots Competition', Takes 5th Overall
Spring-Ford took fifth overall in the competition, which they hosted on Saturday.

ROYERSFORD, PA -- Middle and high school students battled it out on Saturday for the title of robotics champion during the Spring-Ford High School Open Robotics Competition.
More than 30 teams duked it out with VEX robots they created specifically for the sanctioned VEX Robotics duel.
Dozens of competitions took place around the country on Saturday as the 2016 VEX competition season began.

The 2016 incarnatino of the competition, called “Nothing but Net,” requires each team’s robot to score higher than their opponent in a tournament of one on one matchups. The goal is to use the robot to score as many balls in a net on the other side of the court as quickly as possible. The rules of the game are explained in further detail in the video below.

The competition is hosted by the Robotics Education & Competition (REC) Foundation, which seeks to increase student interest and involvement in STEM fields with curriculum-based robotics engineering programs.
The Knights team from Delaware County Christian School in Newtown Square took home the overall prize, going an undefeated 6-0 to win all rounds.
