Just 24 Votes Separate Spring-Ford School Board Race
The shape of the Spring-Ford School Board was determined on Tuesday, as 10 candidates competed for five open seats.

ROYERSFORD, PA — The shape of the Spring-Ford School Board was determined on Tuesday, as a slew of 10 candidates competed to win five open seats.
Democrats took the two seats up for grabs in Region 1, while Republicans took both seats in Region 2, according to unofficial results.
The fifth seat, up for grabs in Region 3, remained too close to call as of midnight Tuesday. Democrat Diane Sullivan has just a 24-vote lead over Republican Tom McMonigle.

Democrats are the projected winners of both seats in Region 1:
- Margaret Wright (D): 2,129
- Wendy Earle (D): 1,998
- Kelly Spletzer (R): 1,473
- James Hoffman (R): 1,394

Republicans are the projected winners in Region 2, with all five precincts in the Region reporting. Republicans Shafer and Zasowski will be a part of the next Spring-Ford School Board, winning clear victories Tuesday:
- Colleen Zasowski (R): 2,291
- David Shafer (R): 2,131
- Linda Weaver (D): 1,891
- Kathleen Drennan (D) 1,841

Three of five precincts have reported in Region 2, with Republicans holding the edge:
- Colleen Zasowski (R): 1,389
- David Shafer (R): 1,289
- Linda Weaver (D): 1,050
- Kathleen Drennan (D) 1,050
Three of four precincts have reported in Region 3, and it's very tight so far:
- Diane Sullivan (D): 1,080
- Tom McMonigle (R): 1,044

Live results of this race will be posted here as soon as they become available. Polls officially closed in Pennsylvania at 8 p.m., and a tally of votes is underway.
As of 8:40 p.m., no Montgomery County precincts had yet reported results.
There were two races in Region 1, two in Region 2, and one in Region 3. The election had the potential to result in five new faces on the board.
Region 1 featured incumbent Republican Kelly Spletzer and newcomer James Hoffman. They're running against Margaret D. Wright and Wendy Earle on the Democratic side of the ballot.
In Region 2, Democrats Linda J. Weaver and Kathleen Drennan took on Republicans David Shafer and incumbent Colleen Zasowski. All four earned between 559 and 588 votes in the primary, setting up a potentially very tight general election.

The Region 3 race also looked to be tightly contested based on the primaries, where Democrat Diane Sullivan earned 443 votes to win back in May, and Republican Tim McMonigle earned 493.
