Spring-Ford School District Gets $35K Grant For STEM

Great news for those interested in STEM and computer science in the Spring-Ford Area School District.

ROYERSFORD, PA — Great news for those interested in STEM and computer science in the Spring-Ford and Pottstown school districts.

The districts have each received a $35,000 grant, aimed at boosting participation "among underserved and underrepresented students" in computer science and STEM.

"I’m proud that these two local school districts will be receiving grants to help implement computer science programs into their curriculum," State Rep. Joe Ciresi (D-Montgomery) said in a statement. "Computer science programs are becoming more and more critical to the success of our students when they enter the workforce."

A total of 221 districts around the state received the funding.

School districts can apply for additional funding after teachers complete initial training on the new curriculum.
