Threats Investigated At Spring-Ford High School
Breaking: Police and school officials investigated threats made toward Spring-Ford High School in a social media post Thursday.

ROYERSFORD, PA — Police and school officials investigated rumors of threats against Spring-Ford Area High School on Thursday, the district announced in a letter sent to parents on Friday.
The nature of the threats is not clear. However, the district said that they emerged from a social media post, and that after an investigation with the Limerick Police Department, it was determined that there was no threat to student safety.
"I would like to assure you that our Spring-Ford Police and Limerick Police Department have continued to work together to conduct thorough in-person investigations and have found no evidence indicating that the rumors are true," Superintendent David Goodin said in a statement Friday. "The safety and wellbeing of all Spring-Ford students and staff is our number one priority."

Goodin added that there will be an increased police presence at the school on Friday, but that parents and students not be alarmed.
Parents and students reported being concerned after hearing rumors and not being certain if they were real or not. Spring-Ford sent out a preliminary email shortly after school on Thursday, and then another one Thursday evening and another one Friday morning, but it appears some parents did not receive the emails (if you are a high school parent that did not receive all of the emails, contact ecrew@spring-ford.net with your child's name, your name, and your email address).

"Any delay in communication was based on getting all the facts correct, making informed decisions and notifying the appropriate parties in a timely manner," Goodin said.
The district urged parents and students to continue to report any suspicious activity.
"During situations like this your support is crucial," Goodin added. "Because this situation involved the use social media on personal devices, I feel it is vital to remind parents to monitor their children’s online activity and to talk to your children about the serious consequences of posting fake threats and creating fake accounts."
No arrests have been announced.
