Update: Tournament in full swing

In Sunday’s action in the 10-and-under Cal Ripken Regional Tournament, host Spring-Ford saw its hopes of advancing to the nationals fall short with an 11-4 loss to Piedmont.

The tournament, which is being hosted by the Springford Youth Athletic League, includes 10 teams from Pennsylvania, New Jersery, New York, Maryland and Delaware. Games will continue on Monday with semifinal action.

In early action on Sunday in the 10-and-under Cal Ripken Regional Tournament hosted by the Springford Youth Athletic League, Paulino defeated Poughkeepsie, 12-1, and Piedmont blanked Manalapan, 11-0.

The host Spring-Ford 10-and-under baseball team split a pair of games on Saturday as the Cal Ripken Regional Tournament got into full swing.

The tournament, which is being hosted by the Springford Youth Athletic League, has another full slate of games schedule for Sunday.

Ten teams from Pennsylvania, New Jersery, New York, Maryland and Delaware are competing in the regional tournament.

The local squad opened the tournament with a 6-5 loss to the Manalapan Braves, but bounced back later in the day and posted a 7-2 victory over the Hickory Hornets.
