Baby Chicks at Lens Friends

March is baby chick month at Lens Friends Studios. These furry creatures live with us throughout the month and act as cute props for our photographs.

Photo tip of the month: Photograph for the expression your child has at the moment, not for the one you want them to do. Let the people you photograph be themselves! Make it a game. Make it fun. Above all … make it real!

What could be cuter than taking pictures of your children? Taking pictures of your children holding live baby fuzz balls of cuteness, of course!

For over a decade I have been photographing children with baby chicks. People always ask me “how do the baby chicks come to Lens Friends?”

Rick and I purchase the chicks from a local hatchery the day they are born. They live with us at the studio. We take care of them. They live in a nice pen under a heat lamp that is kept at 95 degrees to help them grow. Their newspaper bedding is changed four times a day. They eat chicken feed as often as they like as it is kept in a feeder with 20 holes in it. Water is available from a continuous water source that comes out of an upside down jug.

They are so soft, cuddly and cute! Just fuzzy teeny tiny things without feathers, just chick fuzz. They are very docile. The kids love holding them and are not afraid of the chicks. They are the perfect addition to your Spring and Easter photos.

When they get too big to sit still, they go to Farmer Kenny to be raised with other baby chicks and more baby chicks come to Lens Friends to be photographed.

The baby chicks will be at Lens Friends every Friday through Monday in the month of March, until the day before Easter. Book your appointment now at http://lensfriendsstudios.com/home.html.
