How Lens Friends Studios Got Started
An introduction to Lens Friends Studios -- the first "do it yourself" photo studio around.
Life was good. I had an amazing family, career in professional photography, a beautiful home, and my health. That all changed in 2008 when I found myself numb from the neck down, unable to feel the buttons on my own camera and out of work. I was only 41 and had Multiple Sclerosis. Life was suddenly filled with uncertainty and too many questions.
All I knew was I was too young to hang up the photographer’s hat I had worn since I was 14.
It was during that time the idea for Lens Friends was born. As Ben Franklin once said, “out of adversity comes opportunity.”

If I were to become disabled, how could I continue to work in a field that required so much mobility? Build a studio and they will come? I bounced the idea off Rick Richeal, a colleague, to see if he thought the idea had merit. He was crazy enough to say yes!
Fast forward to 2013. We’ve been partners for two years on this wild, bumpy road of building a start-up business, with a start-up concept that’s the first of its kind.

You might be wondering how does our studio differ from the others?
We’ve noticed the digital photography market has exploded, which means there are a lot more amateur photographers out there with better and better equipment. Our goal is to make everyone from the novice to the expert create the best pictures possible.
So why come to us?
Lens Friends' goal is to fill in the missing pieces to make your pictures sparkle. We have the studio complete with lighting, backgrounds, props and experts to help you become an even better photographer. Use our camera, or your own. At the end of a 30-minute session you leave with all your images on a disk – whether you use our camera or your own. We want you to leave feeling proud and excited about the pictures you took.
Lens Friends is unlike any other photography studio you’ve ever seen. We are the one and only, first of our kind “do it yourself” photo studio around.
