Located on two campuses, Friends Village provides independent living and personal care in peaceful settings embedded in residential neighborhoods. Our Paxson Campus is in the heart of Newtown Borough, close to shops, dining and local events. Our Styer Campus, on Lower Dolington Road, boasts raised-bed gardens and walking paths for resident enjoyment. The full calendar of resident-informed programming features lectures, wellness classes, discussion groups and cultural events to promote residents’ intellectual, physical and social well-being. If needed, Friends Village provides our residents with flexible, affordable support in their own apartments through its NeighborCare program. By using our long-tenured and dedicated staff, it is a home care service without the onerous minimum hours or uncertain staffing of agencies. And if care needs increase further, personal care is available in our historic Paxson Hall. What truly sets Friends Village apart is the warm sense of community. While residents remain connected outside of our walls, our small size and intentional approach ensure that each resident is known and know that they genuinely belong – they thrive, make new friends and live well. Limited seating is still available..Jen Chapin has been celebrated for writing “brilliant soulfully poetic urban folk music” by NPR and has spent more than two decades creating songs that are observant, emotionally intuitive, politically aware, and deeply human.
Raised in and around New York City in a family of artists, writers, and musicians, Jen brings a rich creative legacy to her work. Her music blends urban folk, jazz, soul, and storytelling, carried by what critics have called her extraordinary voice and the dynamic musicianship of her band.
Her career has included appearances on Late Night with Conan O’Brien, NPR’s Mountain Stage, WoodSongs Old-Time Radio Hour, WFUV’s Sunday Breakfast with John Platt, and the Bob Edwards Show on Sirius Satellite. She has performed on stage with Bruce Springsteen and shared bills with Aimee Mann, Bruce Hornsby, and The Neville Brothers.
Jen is also deeply connected to activism and community work through her ongoing involvement with WhyHunger, the organization founded by her late father, Harry Chapin. Her songs often reflect that same commitment to justice, family, history, and the world around us.
For this performance, Jen Chapin will be joined by GRAMMY-nominated bassist Stephan Crump and acclaimed electric guitarist Jamie Fox for a cabaret-style evening of urban folk songs titled Anything Goes, and How Did We Get Here? The two-set show weaves historically informed, jazz-inspired questions about our current moment with selections from Jen’s critically acclaimed catalog.

Opening the evening is Lucy Rellosa, winner of the 2025 Havertown Voice. At just 15 years old, Lucy has been playing music since age four and has performed locally and regionally as both a soloist and in a duet with her sister, including appearances at the Delco Gives Telethon and Haverford First Fest. Through years of studying violin, guitar, and voice, she has developed her skills as a singer-songwriter and composes her own original music.

Advance ticket sales close at 5:00 PM on the day of the show. Any remaining tickets will be available at the door.
BYOB is welcome for an additional $5 donation per drinker. Disposable cups and ice are provided.
Free parking is available in the Oakmont Municipal Lot behind the Kelly Center off Darby Road after 6:00 PM. Additional free parking is available courtesy of Grace Chapel at the corner of Eagle and Darby Roads.
