My name is Dharshini Chakkaravarthi and I am running for a seat on the Lower Moreland School Board in the upcoming local election.
From an education perspective, neither the president or Congress can have as much effect on the local schools as the School Board. Nearly 90 percent of elementary and secondary school funding comes from local & state taxes. School boards have influence over everything from hiring superintendents to where funding is directed to.
So my message is that your vote holds more power locally than you realize. YOU really could be the deciding factor when it comes to important issues that could potentially affect your children’s education, or the reputation of your school district ( a dedication to education is good for the property values for everyone who lives nearby!).
