In times past, farmers both feared and welcomed the fierce force of a Thunder Moon storm in August. August was the Maize or Green Corn Moon to many Indian tribes. The Sioux called it the Ripe Moon, a time when favorite wild fruits became available, and the Creek referred to it as the Big Ripening Moon. Come take a walk in the Pennypack Preserve under the August Moon. This walk will be cancelled under mostly cloudy or rainy skies; call 215.657.0830 if sky or weather conditions are questionable. Pre-paid registration required.
