Norristown and Plymouth have a well below “average” score compared to other municipalities across the nation, with crime rates significantly higher than the national and state average, according to data from a recent study.

However, certain neighborhoods are significantly more dangerous than others.

Taking all available data, Neighborhood Scout applies a mathematical algorithm that estimates the total number of crimes and crime rates for each neighborhood, with nearly 90-percent accuracy.

It then produces colored maps, which show the safest and most dangerous places to live.

Overall, the Plymouth Meeting area scores a 20 out of 100 on the crime index, with 100 being the safest.

The numbers signify that Plymouth is safer than only 20 percent of cities in the United States.

Drilling down to the neighborhood level provides a glimpse at those neighborhoods with crime rates higher than the rest of the area.

Many of the most dangerous places in the nation, according to Neighborhood Scout, are located in the Delaware Valley.

Aside from Norristown, Camden, New Jersey was ranked 1st, Chester, Pennsylvania 2nd, and Atlantic City 8th.
