Lower Moreland Residents Sound Off on Safety Issues

Lower Moreland, PA- Summer’s nearly here and with each walk in the park, day at the pool and backyard BBQ comes the risk of snakebites, drowning and fires, but don’t worry! There’s no reason to stay cooped up inside all season.

Patch put together a list of summer safety tips to keep you safe and having fun while the weather’s warm. Make sure to give snakes their distance and always swim with a buddy to stay carefree during the dog days.

Keeping these tips in mind, there are other possible dangers that affect Lower Moreland residents year round.

We asked Patch Readers what they thought the biggest safety issues were in their town. Here’s a list of the most pressing problems, from break-ins to traffic jams:

• "The speeding on Byberry Road esp between Philmont and Pine. It is posted at 25 but the cars are going 50+ mph. There have been so many accidents over the years."

• "My good neighbor had a serious accident on County Line road last year. Had to be extricated from the vehicle. Lucky for her she survived!"

• "Speeding on County Line Road"

• "Terwood Road at Inverness"

• "Not locking up your cars in your driveways at night"

• "People who don't know how to yield the right-of-way and get impatient, swinging into yards to pass a car turning. Pine and Byberry."

• "Same police staffing levels for 35 years."

• "I've lived here for 33 years and never a speed trap where the limit is 25 mph. If they did it once a month, they could half our LMT School taxes."
