First Responders Honored For Work On Devastating Salter's Blaze

LOWER PROVIDENCE, PA — Lower Providence recognized the heroes whose exhaustive efforts battled back and brought under control the recent devastating Salter's blaze.
Representatives from the Lower Providence Fire Department, police department, fire marshal, emergency medical service, and public works department were all honored at Thursday night's Board of Supervisor's Meeting.
Township officials said that the first responders were honored for a "remarkable cooperative effort" in keeping the area safe.

The massive blaze at the local business drew multiple alarms and kept crews from Lower Providence and surrounding counties on the scene for hours on Saturday, Jan. 26.
The work of more than 150 firefighters and responders from Montgomery, Chester, and Berks counties kept the blaze in the Colonial Shopping Center contained. Miraculously, the other businesses in the center opened that Monday.

A cause is not yet known. The fire remains under investigation by Lower Providence Township fire marshals.
