Hundreds Protest Layoffs At Montgomery County Pharmaceutical Company

The protesters caused traffic to be backed up as they marched.

Hundreds of people marched in protest of recent layoffs at Teva Pharmaceuticals in Montgomery Township on Thursday, according to eyewitness reports.

Nearly 200 union members marched along Horsham Road for about 500 feet, according to The Intelligencer, slowing traffic all the way from Hartman Road.

Montgomery County police officers were on hand to ensure that the march stayed in the westbound lanes.

At the conclusion of the march, the crowd of 200 sat down in the grass near the entrance to Teva, many of them holding signs.

The lay-offs, mostly of janitors, are not the first Teva firings to cause an uproar.

Similar lay-offs in New York, Pomona, and even Jersualem have caused response from the public and from unions.

Teva said that they would not give a comment on the protest.
