Lidl Grocery Construction Making Progress In Lower Providence

Signs are up and the corner is beginning to look more and more like a grocery store.

LOWER PROVIDENCE, PA — Construction on the new grocery store coming to Lower Providence is making progress.

Lidl, the German discount supermarket chain, is coming to the intersection of Trooper Road and Ridge Pike.

New signs for both the store and Lower Providence Township have been installed, and the corner that once held Norristown Ford is completely changed.

The juncture presently holds a Wawa and Citadel Bank at one corner and a Burger King at another. Lidl will move into the corner that previously held Norristown Ford, while, according to a recent report in the Times Herald, the fourth, presently empty lot at this intersection will become a Dunkin Donuts.

Lidl has expanded significantly in the region lately, including a purchase of 27 Best Market stores in New York and New Jersey late last year.

A specific opening date has not yet been announced, but officials are hopeful the store will be open by the end of 2019.
