PECO has begun a project to invest more than $19 million to retire a nearby electric substation and modernize and enhance the electric infrastructure in parts of Lower Providence Township.

The work is part of PECO’s Reliability & Resiliency Plan to invest $1.36 billion through 2025 on targeted reliability-focused infrastructure improvements. These accelerated investments will help strengthen the local electric grid to better withstand more frequent and damaging storms, deliver enhanced reliability for customers by reducing the frequency of outages and the duration of those that cannot be prevented, and support the adoption of clean energy resources, like solar power.
