One Dead After Sunday Fire In Lower Providence

Sad news out of Lower Providence in the wake of Sunday night's fire. An investigation is now underway.

LOWER PROVIDENCE, PA — One person is dead after a fire at a home in a Lower Providence apartment Sunday night.

The incident occurred at around 8:08 p.m. on the 2800 block of Ridge Pike, according to township authorities.

A neighbor heard a smoke detector going off in the apartment and called 911.

Firefighters on the scene attacked the fire in the living room of the apartment, where they found the victim lying on the floor. The victim was taken out of the apartment and declared dead by medical personnel on the scene.

Residents of adjacent buildings were evacuated as the blaze was extinguished.

It's not yet clear how the fire began, and an investigation is underway. Authorities have not yet released the name of the victim as family members are still being notified.

First responders with the Lower Providence Township Police, Lower Providence Fire Department, and Lower Providence EMS all responded to the scene. They were joined by crews from Jefferson from West Norriton Township, Norriton from East Norriton Township, Skippack, and Collegeville.
