Temple Student Dies After Falling From Dorm Building Tuesday

Breaking: The first-year student was just 19 years old and was pursuing an engineering degree, the Temple University officials said.

PHILADELPHIA, PA – A first-year Temple University student died Tuesday, Oct. 3 after falling from his dorm building, the university confirmed Tuesday afternoon. The school announced Richard Dalcourt, 19, died Tuesday as a result of the fall.

Dalcourt, a freshman, started at Temple during the fall semester and was pursing a mechanical engineering degree in the College of Engineering.

Officials from the West Windsor-Plainsboro Regional School District in New Jersey confirmed to Patch that Dalcourt is a 2017 graduate of West Windsor-Plainsboro High School North and a Princeton, New Jersey resident.

"We join Richard’s family and friends in mourning his loss," Temple University President Richard Englert said in a statement. "Tragedies such as these affect many members of our community."

The university is reminding students of available counseling from Tuttleman Counseling Services at 1700 N. Broad St. More information on counseling is available at (215) 204-7276 or on the Tuttleman Counseling Services website.

6ABC reported a person, later identified as Dalcourt, fell from a residence hall on the 1900 block of Liacouras Walk Tuesday morning.
