Bucks Co. Official Appears On Comedy Central's 'The Daily Show'
Bensalem Director of Public Safety Fred Harran discussed the controversial 287(g) program on "The Daily Show" Thursday night.

A Bucks County law enforcement official appeared on Thursday's episode of "The Daily Show with Trevor Noah" on Comedy Central.
Bensalem Director of Public Safety Fred Harran was featured in a segment about the controversial 287(g) program. He was interviewed by correspondent Roy Wood Jr. in regards to the program, which allows designated police officers to conduct federal immigration checks on residents who are suspected to be illegally living in the country.
Harran is a supporter of the program, which he tells Wood helps local law enforcement "put people in jail."

Some residents have been critical of his support of the program, which is touted by President Donald Trump.
In January, residents staged a protest outside the Bensalem Township Council meeting to voice their opposition to the program. An online petition was also circulated. In May, it was decided Bensalem would not participate in the program.
